The 27th Lancers Foundation is now accepting Scholarship applications 05/21

The 27th Lancers Foundation is now accepting Scholarship applications which will be awarded at DCI World Championships in Indianapolis, IN. Founded by the Bonfiglio Family, the 27th Lancers Foundation was established as a vehicle to provide scholarships to deserving individuals who are pursuing a career in Education and Performing Arts. The Foundation will award two scholarships each year, one to a person involved in Performance Arts (i.e., Drum & Bugle Corps, Winter Guard, High School or College Band, Percussion, Piano, Dance, Theatre, etc.) and one to a person who aspires to become an Educator. The establishment of the 27th Lancers Foundation honors George and Patsy Bonfiglio who founded the 27th Lancers Drum & Bugle Corps. Their commitment, drive and enthusiasm lives in this Foundation.

June 10 General Body Meeting 05/20

The organization will host its June By Laws meeting on Monday June 10th at the Holiday Inn in Dedham at 6PM. Light refreshments will be served. The agenda will include review of the past winter season and promotions. Review of the upcoming fall season. By law review and voting. Naming of scholarship winners. This meeting is available to all organizations to help move NESBA forward. Your participation is appreciated.

Finals Weekend Is Here! 04/05

Welcome to the 2013 New England Winter Finals! Saturday's Guard Championships starts at Noon at Reading HS. Then on Sunday, Percussion Championships start at 1:30PM at Dartmouth HS. Great shows, great friends, great food and of course.. a chance to watch some of the activities best units perform at home.. before they head to WGI World Championships!! Best of luck to everyone!

Thanks to a friend.. 03/14

We would like to extend our sympathies to the Rogan family. Patti Rogan passed away unexpectedly this week. Patti, her husband Ed and son James have been a part of the NESBA organization for a number of years and always a help at each of our shows. There will be a memorial service for Patti at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton MA this Saturday at 10:30AM.

Moving on....we head to Salem NH and Somerset Berkley MA 03/10

Next up on the NESBA tour is Saturday's show in Salem NH and Sunday we head to Somerset MA for two more great events. Thanks to the King Philip and Dover organizations for their hard work this past weekend. Remember everyone.. start to prepare for Finals weekend.. ticket money and fees are due as well asking for your 2 volunteers to work Finals. Good luck and keep up the great work!

2013 Marching Band Schedule on line 03/05

The 2013 marching band schedule is on line. Registration for all events will open on March 15th. A reminder to all schools that to qualify for finals bands have to perform in at least one regular season marching band show and be a full dues paying member. Keep NESBA in mind as you set your fall performance schedules.

Performing member clinic this Saturday for groups in the CT show.. 02/25

Just a reminder to all units in the Plainfield CT show that the clinic for all performers will start at 3PM. All percussion groups should have their eqpt unloaded by 2:30PM to be ready to start at 3PM. Guard members are reminded to wear dance clothes for your clinic time. Have a great time everyone.

Weather update for Saturday.. 02/22

The Dartmouth show will go on as planned. If a unit decides to perform and leave before awards that is fine. Just let us know. Holding critique for the event will be decided based on the weather conditions during the event. For Sunday, a decision will be made Saturday evening and posted on the web. Lets hope the rain and warm weather continue to push the snow away!!!! Thanks everyone and travel safe!

Winter season ready to begin. 01/18

The 2013 winter season is about to begin. We want to wish all the staff and members of each organization the best of luck! Lets have a great time!

Winter Meeting January 16th 6PM Start! 01/16

Tonight's meeting will be held at Weymouth HS at 6PM. Please park near the tennis courts to the back side of the school and enter the building through the doors across from the tennis courts. The agenda will include: Tickets, badges, Fall wrap up, review of winter shows, new sheets for guard classes, use of Competition Suite and a look ahead to Fall 2013.

Floors and Props.. set up! 01/11

A reminder to all units that the organization uses the same flow of floors and equipment entering the stage at all events. All floors etc MUST enter from the back side line then move forward. When your show is completed we ask that all floors and equipment fold forward to the front side line to maintain flow of the show. Always check with the Coord. or Timing person when you arrive.

CompetitionSuite is ready for set up! 12/20

The change to CompetitionSuite (The new judges commentary system for use with smart phones and text messages) for the 2013 winter season is now available for units to register. An email has been sent to all directors on our data base explaining how to set up your unit. It is important for each group to complete a profile in the system! Flash drives and emailing judges comments will not be taking place this season.

Competition Suite for 2013 Winter Shows 10/05

The organization has joined with WGI and become a partner in the use of the new tabulation and judge MP3 evaluation system. The new system will send your judges comments to your Iphones or other cellular devices. Each unit will need to set up an account with Competition Suite. More information will be emailed to unit managers in December. The winter meeting will be held on Wednesday January 16th at Weymouth HS. Speaking at the winter meeting will be Dale Powers from Winter Guard International. Reminder that all winter shows are now available for on line registration!

Band needed for school performance... 09/13

Saturday, October 13th, Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School, in Cambridge, is holding their Homecoming. Events begin at 10 AM, with the football game kick off at Noon. The organization would like to thank the Everett Band Parents for a great meal. Well done and thanks again! Blessed Sacrament Spin Day- 9/16/12 09/12

Blessed Sacrament Color Guards will be hosting a Spin Day on Sunday, September 16 from 10 to 4 at the Americal Civic Center, 467 Main Street, Wakefield, MA. This is open to everyone and is an opportunity to experience a Blessed Sacrament rehearsal. It is free to all. Come and have fun! Blessed Sacrament will have four color guards performing in NESBA in 2013, World, Open, A and Cadet. The World Guard auditions are Saturday, September 22. The Open guard will start rehearsal on Wednesday, September 19 in Stoneham. The A guard will start on September 20, in Wakefield and the Cadet guard will start on Tuesday, September 18 in Stoneham. Happy summer everyone! The Fall schedule is posted on line and events are being planned for the winter season. Bands not registered for shows are asked to please do so as soon as possible. All winter show date requests are now due. The first round of confirmed winter show dates will be posted by July 15th. Promotions for winter guards and re classification of our winter percussion ensembles has been updated on the member page. The September meeting will be announced soon.

Passing of one of our Founders.. Jim Guter 04/09

A memorial service will be held in Gloucester MA for one of the founding members of the NESBA organization, Jim Guter. Jim's family has asked that anyone wishing to attend contact them at jdguter@gmail.com The service will be held on Saturday, May 5th in Gloucester at the Elks at Bass Rocks on Atlantic Rd at 2:00PM. Jim was the band director at Gloucester HS in the 1970's and was instrumental in the development of the NESBA philosophy that all students deserve a chance to be great performers!! Our best wishes to the Guter family.

For all guards at the Salem NH show please remember to bring an extra copy of your music with you. With a double show day Gerard will be in Mansfield and Scott Hiser will be with us in Salem NH. Please make sure you check in at the sound table at the Salem show and confirm your music is set. Thanks.

Mass Judge Scholarships Available.. 03/14

MJA is offering TWO $1000.00 scholarships to a participating student performer. Please see the attached application form for details. Applications are due by March 23rd. First of all thank you to the Dover Band Parents for running a great show on Sunday. Special congratulations to Reading HS, Maine Attraction, Salem Blue and Blessed Sacrament World for being crowned the WGI New England Regional Champions. Next weekend we have three shows.. two on Saturday Mansfield and Salem NH and then on Sunday we head to Somerset MA. Good luck to everyone.

Marching Band Season Sign Ups On Line 03/01

On line registration for the 2012 Marching Band Season is now open. Remember, units who sign up early go on later in their division. Each band is required to perform at one regular season show to qualify for championships. Set your schedule now and lets make the 2012 Championships on Saturday, October 27th the best championship event yet!

After a very busy weekend in Dartmouth and Blackstone.. we are now off to Saturdays show at King Philip and then Sunday off to Reading HS for a show hosted by St Brendans. The season is kicking into high gear as we get all of our WGI Regional groups ready for the Boston Guard and Trumbull Percussion Regional(s). Can you believe we are headng into mid season already!! The first show of the year is complete and we want to thank everyone for being a part of such a great day. Special congratulations to St Brendan's C Guard for their promotion to the Independent Regional A Class and to Norwood HS for their move to the Local Scholastic A Class. Lawrence Veterans Stadium 240 Osgood St. Show starts at 11AM. Bus and Truck parking are located at Lawrence HS parking lots. Volunteers and Band Directors must check in at the main entrance gate. Gates open at 10AM for all fans. Good luck everyone and have a great day!

September General Body Meeting. 08/16

The Fall Season General Body Meeting will take place at Weymouth HS on Monday September 12th at 6PM. This meeting will include a review of the fall season, details for finals, a preview of the winter 2012 season and distribution of passes for the fall shows. See you there!

The 2012 winter schedule is available for VIEW ONLY on line. Registration will begin on October 1st. When reviewing the schedule please remember that some shows are guard only and some are percussion only. We do offer many combined shows as well. For 2011 Paperless Judging System 12/29

For the 2011 winter season, NESBA will be moving away from handing out the judges sheets and only distributing recaps at the end of each event. The paperless judging system has been used in many areas of the country and WGI is now going paperless as well. The topics of digital judging and paperless systems will be discussed at the January General Body Meeting.
